Red Raiders edge Warren in first round of Area Tournament

The Coffee Middle Red Raiders advanced to the AA Area 6 Semifinals with a tight, 2-0 win over the Warren County Pioneers on Monday.
Coffee County would get on the board first in the game, as Landyn Stiefel scored on a sacrifice bunt by Rylan Abellana to give the Red Raiders a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the second inning.
In the bottom of the third inning, the Red Raiders doubled their lead as Augie Lynch scored on a ground out by Jaxon Pruitt to give Coffee County a 2-0 advantage.
No team could break through for a score in the final three and a half innings and the Red Raiders held on for the 2-0 win.
Tanner Daugherty and Mason Floyd would register the only two hits for Coffee County.
Augie Lynch would earn the win on the mound after pitching five innings, allowing one hit, striking out eight batters and walking two on 82 pitches. Ethan Arnold would pitch two innings in relief, allowing one hit and striking out three batters on 24 pitches.
The Red Raiders are slated to host the Whitthorne Tigers in the Area 6 Semifinals on Tuesday, Apr. 30 after the Tigers beat Franklin County 6-3 in their first round game.
