Lady Raiders blank Tullahoma, advance to Area Semifinals

On Monday night, the Coffee Middle Lady Raiders beat Tullahoma 11-0 in the first round of the AA Area 6 Tournament.
The Lady Raiders would put up a two run lead in the bottom of the first inning, scoring with Kenzie Shelton on a fly out by Allie Raines and Bailey Hale on a single by Briley Apicella to give Coffee County a 2-0 lead.
Coffee County would then erupt for six runs in the bottom of the second inning, including a single by Briley Jernigan that drove in two and a double by Apicella that scored another two to help the Lady Raiders build a commanding 8-0 lead.
Tullahoma would be unable to find an answer and the Lady Raiders would outscore the Wildcats 3-0 the rest of the way to win in an 11-0 mercy rule.
Briley Jernigan had two hits and four RBIs, Briley Apicella had two hits and three RBIs, Bailey Hale had two hits and one RBI, Allie Raines had one hit and two RBIs and Kenzie Shelton had two hits for the Lady Raiders.
Apicella earned the win in the circle, pitching in all five innings, allowing just one hit, striking out four batters and walking one on 66 pitches.
The Lady Raiders are scheduled to host Warren County in the Area Semifinals on Tuesday, Apr. 30 after the Lady Pioneers dispatched of E.O. Coffman 23-4 in their first round game.
