Lady Raider soccer off to 0-2 start

The CCCHS Lady Raider soccer team began their 2024 campaign this week with a pair of losses to Shelbyville and Spring Hill.
Shelbyville: 4, Coffee: 1
The Lady Raiders opened their season on the road at Shelbyville on Monday, Aug. 12.
Both teams looked to be pretty even in the first half, but the Golden Eagles broke through for a score in the 27th minute to take a 1-0 lead that they would keep all the way until halftime.
In the second half, Shelbyville would score two goals in a span of three minutes to give themselves a commanding 3-0 lead.
Coffee County would get on the scoreboard with a goal by Lilly Matherne, but the Golden Eagles held on to win 4-1.
Goalkeeper Hailey Campbell had 17 saves in the game for the Lady Raiders.
Spring Hill: 3, Coffee: 1
On Thursday, Aug. 15, the Lady Raiders opened their home slate of games with another district opponent in Spring Hill.
Spring Hill raced out to a big lead in the game’s first half, scoring two goals to take a 2-0 lead into the halftime break.
Lily Matherne would put Coffee County on the board for the second time in as many games with a penalty kick goal, but Spring Hill would score another goal and go on to win 3-1.
Matherne finished the game with three total shots on goal while Bailey Barsenas, Ava Martin and Tia Buchanan each had one shot apiece for Coffee County and Hailey Campbell made seven saves.
The Lady Raiders will be back at home on Tuesday, Aug. 20 to take on Lincoln County with JV action kicking things off at 6 p.m.
