Human remains found in Summitville area

Coffee County Sheriff Department responded around 1:45 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 25, to the area of Vaughn Speckleton Road near Summitville to a report of human remains found near the railroad tracks.
According to a statement by Sheriff Chad Partin the remains were located by a subject checking deer cameras in the area.
Coffee County Sheriff’s Investigators along with Manchester Police Department Investigators and Coffee County EMS Director Michael Bonner processed the scene and the area around the remains.
The remains were then transported by Coffee County EMS for pick up by the State Medical Examiner’s Office.
Partin said that the case is currently this is not being investigated as a homicide but a possible natural caused death.
The State Medical Examiner’s Office is investigating to identify the person. When this identification is completed the Sheriff’s Office and Manchester Police Department will follow up with more information.
