On Wednesday night, Coffee Middle’s bid for a perfect season ended with a two set loss to Warren County while Westwood suffered a tough road loss at Eagleville.
CCMS Lady Raiders
The Lady Raiders’ eight game winning streak came to close after a tough battle with Warren County.
Warren County scored four straight points to open the game’s first set, then assumed a 10-3 lead before Coffee County used their first timeout. The Lady Raiders couldn’t stop the relentless attack of the Lady Pioneers, and would drop the first set 25-14.
Coffee County looked better at the start of the second set, assuming a 7-4 lead before Warren County called a timeout, but the Lady Pioneers fought back to tie the set at 19-19 before going on to win 25-22 and win the match 2-0.
Meanwhile, the Coffee County JV squad secured a 2-1 victory.
After losing the first set, the JV Lady Raiders won the second set 25-21 then ran away with the third set 15-6 to win the match 2-1.
The Coffee Middle Lady Raiders are now 8-1 on the season and will return to action on Monday, Sept. 9 at Cannon County after a long break.
Westwood Lady Rockets
The Westwood Lady Rockets had a tough road trip to Eagleville, losing to the Lady Eagles in a two set match.
Eagleville won the first set 25-12 then cruised to a 25-10 win in the second set to take the match 2-0.
The JV Lady Rockets also had a rough outing, losing 25-17 in the first set and falling 25-13 in the second set.
Westwood is now 5-3 on the season and will travel to Cannon County on Friday, Aug. 30 for their next match with JV action starting at 5 p.m.
