The Coffee County Sheriff’s Department has confirmed the identity of a woman whose body was found recently after she disappeared many weeks ago.
“The Coffee County Sheriff’s Office and Manchester Police Department have been contacted by the State Medical Examiner’s Office that the remains found in the Forest Mill Community on Aug. 25, have been identified as Bonnie Sue Williams,” the sheriff’s department said in a statement Friday afternoon. “Sheriff Chad Partin and (Manchester) Police Chief Bill Sipe both extend their sympathy to the entire Williams family.
The department added the investigation into Williams’ whereabouts had concluded following the positive identification.
In a press release after the discovery of her body, Partin said deputies responded to a call at Vaughn Speckleton Road in Manchester on Sunday, Aug. 25, around 1:45 p.m. due to finding human remains near the railroad tracks.
“Human remains were located by a subject checking their deer cameras,” Partin said. “Coffee County Sheriff’s Investigators along with Manchester Police Department Investigators and Coffee County EMS Director Michael Bonner processed the scene and the area around the remains.”
The woman, later identified as Williams, was transported by Coffee County EMS for pick up by the State Medical Examiner’s Office.
