Stowe ties for 10th at State Tournament

Coffee County Central’s Jack Stowe and Noah Costello each took part in the two-day TSSAA 2A State Golf Tournament at Sevierville on Thursday and Friday, Oct. 10-11, with Stowe finishing in a six-way tie for 10th place.
On the first day, Stowe tallied an even-par round of 72 with 13 pars, three birdies, one bogey and one double bogey, and finished three strokes behind the lead entering the second day.
Stowe would not have quite as good of a second round, carding a 76 with nine pars, three birdies, five bogies and one double bogie, finishing the tournament with a total score of 148, which was four strokes over par and nine strokes behind winner Owen Hill of Cookeville.
Noah Costello also represented Coffee County in the tournament, finishing in a tie for 52nd with a total score of 163 (+19).
After carding an 85 in the first round, Costello settled in nicely in the second round, turning in a 78 with 11 pars, one birdie, five bogies and one double bogie.
Only four golfers finished the tournament under par: Owen Hill with a 139 (-5), Laird Williams of Page with a 140 (-4), Tucker Wick of East Hamilton with a 141 (-3) and Cooper Gettler of Mt. Juliet with a 143 (-1).
In team scores, Brentwood placed first, finishing nine strokes above par and 20 strokes better than second place finishers Bearden (+29). East Hamilton placed third at 30 strokes above par.
