Lady Rockets complete sweep of West, Rocket comeback falls short

On Thursday night, the Westwood Lady Rockets completed the season sweep of Tullahoma West with a 42-35 win while the Rockets fell 47-39 after a valiant second half comeback attempt.
As a part of their Pink Out Night, both Westwood teams wore pink shirts with numbers on the back in place of their normal jerseys.

The Lady Rockets got off to a quick start, outscoring the Lady Bobcats 12-4 in the opening quarter.
Both offenses went a little quiet in the second quarter with Tullahoma West outscoring Westwood 6-5, but the Lady Rockets still held a 17-10 lead heading into halftime.
Westwood’s offense came back to life in the third quarter as the Lady Rockets outscored Tullahoma 15-9 to go up 32-19 heading into the fourth. Scoring 11 of Westwood’s 15 third quarter points was Jerzee Ferrell, who went on to lead Westwood with 20 total points.
The Lady Bobcats tried to shorten the deficit by outscoring Westwood 16-10 in the final quarter, but the Lady Rockets held on to win, 42-35.

With the win, the Westwood Lady Rockets improved to 3-1 on the season.

In the boys game, both teams would struggle to find opportunities to score as the game’s first bucket wouldn’t be scored until midway through the first quarter by the Bobcats, who built up a 9-0 lead through the first six minutes.
Trenton Tanner would end Westwood’s nearly 10-minute long scoring drought, but the Bobcats continued their dominant start, building up a 32-6 halftime lead.
Westwood’s offense seemed to settle in after the halftime break, outscoring the Bobcats 16-8, but West still held a commanding 40-22 lead going into the fourth.
The Rockets continued to fight on through the fourth quarter, outscoring Tullahoma 17-7 which included 11 points from Isiah Buchanan, but the valiant effort would not be enough, as the Bobcats held on to win, 47-39.
