CCMS wrestling splits opener with PCA and Oakland

The Coffee County Middle wrestling season opened at home on Tuesday night with a dual win over Providence Christian Academy and a loss to Oakland.

In their match against the PCA Lions, Archer Rolefson, Tripp Trussler, Dyson Leverette, Andrew Boles, Luke Warrick and Toccoa Gaines all picked up wins by a fall for Coffee County while Jaidin Uselton, Joshua Mainville Jr. and Caden Harris won by a forfeit.

Zaila Hussey and Gavin Moore would lose their matches by a fall, Caleb Frederick would lose his match in a 19-3 technical fall and PCA would pick up forfeit wins in the 75-pound and 155-pound weight classes, but the Red Raiders would win the dual, 54-29.

For their second contest of the night, the Red Raiders took on the Oakland Chargers.

Trussler, Boles and Warrick would all win their second matches of the night by a fall with Mainville also winning by a fall and Harris winning his second match of the night on a forfeit.

However, Rolefson, Moore, Uselton, Leverette, Gaines, Frederick and Robbie Morrison would all lose by a fall and the Red Raiders would lose by a forfeit in the 75-pound, 155-pound and 185-pound weight classes, giving Oakland the 60-30 dual win.

The Coffee Middle wrestling team is scheduled to take part in the Spring Station Invitational on Saturday, Nov. 2.
