BAUMSTIEN
Mae Winton Baumstein, of Manchester, passed this life on Saturday, Nov. 2, 2024 at her home at the age of 99. Mrs. Baumstein was born on April 19, 1925 in Warren County, Tennessee to the late Andy Jones Winton and Dessie Jane Bryan Winton. She married her husband, Joe Baumstein on March 14, 1944. Mrs. Baumstein had been a member of First Baptist Church in Manchester since 1996 and loved her time she spent there with her church family. She owned Mae’s Fabric in Manchester and enjoyed sewing, flowers, gardening, crocheting, and knitting. Above all else though, she loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Baumstein was preceded in death by her husband, Joe Baumstein; one son, Sidney (Father Paschal) Baumstein; one brother, A.J. Winton, Jr.; two sisters, Christine Jordan and Eddie Sain; and one nephew, David Simpson. She is survived by one son, Allen (Carolyn) Baumstein; one grandson, Joey (Terri) Baumstein; one granddaughter, Tami (Robert) Weaver; 10 great-grandchildren, Joseph, Nathan, Logan, Brandon, Christopher, Jace, McKenzie (Courtland), Sydney (Logan), Zach (Bailey) and Mason; two great-great-grandchildren, Kezia and Bennett; nieces, Ann Simpson and Bina Bernard; and nephew, Dalon Simpson. Visitation will be held on Thursday, Nov. 7, 2024 at Kilgore Funeral Home from 3-5 p.m. with the funeral service to follow at 5 p.m. with Dr. Brenton Cox officiating. Mrs. Baumstein will be buried in the Belmont Abbey Cemetery in Belmont, North Carolina. For those who wish, the family asks that donations be made to the Finish The Race Building Fund at First Baptist Church in Manchester.
