SROFE

Robert E. Srofe, age 95, of Manchester Tennessee went to be with his heavenly Father, Saturday, Nov. 30, 2024. He was born March 7, 1929 in Birmingham, Alabama to the late Charles Herschel Srofe and Lydia Irene (Mason) Srofe.  In addition to his parents, Robert is also proceeded in death by his wife, Jerry Blacklidge Srofe, his son, Barry Srofe, grandson, Jeb Srofe, sisters, Theresa Gravette and Hazel Roper, and his brothers Johnny Srofe, Billy Srofe, and Charles Herschel Srofe Jr. Robert served his country in the United States Army from 1954-1956 and was stationed near Paris, France where he and Jerry were able to explore Europe when they first married. He earned his Bachelor of Science in Industrial Management from Auburn University in 1951. He worked for 32 years as a Civilian Chief Personnel Officer for Arnold Engineering in Tullahoma. Robert had been a member of the First United Methodist Church in Manchester. Robert was married to Jerry for 48 years before she passed away. He was a devoted family man who gave his all for his wife and children. He would play any sport anytime he was asked to and went to all of his children’s games and activities. He was an avid golfer into his 90’s and also played basketball, softball, baseball, wrestling and ran track. He especially loved coaching his sons’ baseball teams and his daughters’ softball teams. He was affectionately nicknamed “The Champ.” Robert is survived by his son, David Srofe, daughters , Angela Houck  & Linda McGuill , sister, Dorothy Shadix, grandchildren, Roel Srofe, Elaine Srofe, Haley Srofe, Shelby Slavings, Leigh McGuill and Kinsli Jones, and great-grandchildren, Jackson Srofe, Asher Slavings, and Lorelei Slavings. The family will receive friends from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 4 and from 12-1 p.m. Thursday Dec. 5 at Manchester Funeral Home. The funeral service will be held in the chapel with Dr. Michael Gravette officiating. Interment will follow in the Garden of the Last Supper at Rose Hill Memorial Gardens, Tullahoma Tennessee.
