CCMS Lady Raiders: 40, North Franklin Gatorettes: 12

Standing between the Lady Raiders and a 15-0 record on Monday night were the North Franklin Gatorettes.

The Lady Raiders used their defense to set the tone again, outscoring North 23-5 in the first half of play.

North would continue to struggle on offense in the second half, as the Lady Raiders held them to seven points over the final two quarters for a 40-12 victory.

“That was a good win,” said Coach David Vinson. “Like we keep saying, the defense sets the tone every game and defense turns to offense. I thought we moved the ball well tonight and made a few open shots. I’m proud of the girls tonight, this is a difficult time of the year to stay focused, but they stay focused and took care of business.”

With the win, the Lady Raiders remain perfect in the regular season with a 15-0 record and end conference play at 12-0.

Box Score: North Franklin Gatorettes (12) Hadley Jolley 5, Hallie Crenshaw 4, Abbie Hill 3.

CCMS Red Raiders: 40, North Franklin Gators: 27

The Coffee County Red Raiders were looking to up their current winning streak to three with a win over the North Gators.

Coffee County had the edge in the first quarter, outscoring the Gators 13-8.

North would outscore the Red Raiders 6-5 in the second quarter, but Coffee County remained in front 18-14 at the half.

The Gators made it a one point game in the third, 26-25, but the Red Raiders allowed only two points in the fourth to win the game 40-27.

“It was a win, but it was very sloppy,” said Coach Jason Creek. “Defensively it wasn’t bad, but we had some mental mistakes with the rotations. Offensively, I feel like we played pretty poorly. I don’t know how many turnovers we had…, but that stuff needs to be cleaned up before we head to tournament play. It wasn’t a very pretty night, but a win is a win.”

With the win, the Red Raiders improve to 13-2 on the season and end CTC play with a 10-2 record.
