Raiders race past Rebels

On Friday night in Winchester, the Lady Raiders beat the Rebelettes 55-41 for their ninth win in a row while the Red Raiders collected their third win in the last four games with a 47-39 victory over the Rebels.

CCHS Lady Raiders: 55, Franklin County Rebelettes: 41

After nearly a week since their last game against York, the Lady Raiders were looking for their ninth win of the season and a season sweep of the Rebelettes with a win at Franklin County.

The Lady Raiders had an early lead at the start, outscoring the Rebelettes 11-8 in the first quarter, but Franklin County battled back in the second, outscoring the Lady Raiders 15-12 to tie the score at 23-23 heading into halftime.

Coffee County would retake control in the second half, outscoring the Rebelettes 14-12 in the third and 18-6 in the fourth to win the game, 55-41.

With the win, the Lady Raiders remain perfect with a 9-0 record on the season.

CCHS Red Raiders: 47, Franklin County Rebels: 39

After their win last Saturday against York, the Red Raiders were hoping to get their season record to .500 with a win over the Rebels.

The Red Raiders had the edge at the start, outscoring the Rebels 13-11 in the first quarter of play. 

Coffee County distanced themselves from the Rebels in the second quarter, going on a 10-3 run in the first four minutes to help build a 27-16 lead at the half.

Franklin County would chip away and make it an eight point game at the end of the third, 36-28, but the Red Raiders held on in the fourth quarter for a 47-39 victory.

With the win, the Red Raiders improve to a 4-4 record.

Both CCHS basketball teams will take part in holiday tournaments next week. The Lady Raiders will travel to Gordonsville for the DTC Christmas Classic with their first game taking place against Central Magnet on Friday, Dec. 20 at 1:30 p.m. The Red Raiders will stay closer to home with their first game in the Tullahoma Jeff Taylor Classic also taking place on Friday, Dec. 20 against Grace Christian Academy at 6 p.m.
