Three CCHS wrestlers place first in Red Hawk Rampage

On Saturday, Jan. 4, the CCHS wrestling team competed in the Red Hawk Rampage at Stewarts Creek High School with Eli McLean, Jasmine Norris and Ellysia Jennings all placing first in their respective weight classes.
In the boys’ tournament, junior Eli McLean was the only wrestler to place first for Coffee County, winning the 150-pound division championship with a 4-2 decision win over Cookeville’s Wyatt Ellis.
Two other wrestlers placed for Coffee County in the boys’ tournament; Aiden Lindsay placed second in the 126-pound division after losing the championship match in a 9-6 decision to Daylen Davis of Munford and William Barlow placed second in the 144-pound division after losing the championship match in a 7-1 decision to Ravenwood’s Bryce Peterson.
On the girls’ side, Coffee County had two wrestlers place first: Jasmine Norris and Ellysia Jennings.
Norris won the 120-pound division championship in a 13-3 major decision over Delaney Sparks of Hume-Fogg and Jennings placed first in the 185-pound division with a win by a fall over Northwest’s Tyrenoria Munene.
Coffee County had three other wrestlers place in the girls’ tournament: Aime Miller placed fourth in the 132-pound division, Jianna Bare placed fourth in the 152-pound division and Sophia Rodriguez placed sixth in the 100-pound division.
Coffee County wrestling will make a return trip to Smyrna on Tuesday, Jan. 7 for a tri meet with Smyrna and Blackman starting at 6 p.m.
