Raider wrestling splits home tri-meet with Rockvale and Shelbyville

The CCHS wrestling team picked up a 57-18 dual win over Shelbyville, but lost to Rockvale 41-36 on Thursday night at Raider Academy.
Against Rockvale, Coffee County won six individual matches by a fall: Aiden Lindsay (126) over Taylor Moghaddam, Carlos Valle-Martinez (138) over Jamison Jones, William Barlow (144) over Chad Chanthalasy, Eli McLean (150) over Tripp Rollins, Emanuel Rodriguez (157) over Branson Huffmire and Zachary Warrick (175) over Jonathon Pendley.
On the other side, Rockvale won four individual matches by a fall, one match by a technical fall, one match by a decision and Coffee County forfeited the 106 and 132-pound weight classes to give Rockvale a 41-36 victory.
The second dual of the night against Shelbyville would go a lot better, with Coffee County winning 10 individual matches.
Seven of the matches were won by a fall: Aiden Lindsay (126) over Richard Owens, Carlos Valle-Martinez (138) over Caleb Wimsatt, Eli McLean (150) over Edgar Luciano, Tommy Miller (165) over Keaton Woodard, Zachary Warrick (175) over Joshua Hedge, Joel Cruz-Martinez (215) over Ethan Mcbee and Tanner Vernon (285) over Erick Ramos.
Emmanuel Rodriguez (157) would win in a 19-4 technical fall over Lennon Rupprecht, William Barlow (144) would win in a 20-10 major decision over Josiah Guiterrez and Cameron Kerr (113) would win in a forfeit to round out all of the Red Raiders’ individual wins over the Golden Eagles.
Shelbyville would win two individual matches by a fall, Coffee County would forfeit the 132-pound weight class and both teams would forfeit the 106-pound weight class, but the Red Raiders would win the dual 57-18.
On the girls side, Jasmine Norris (120) and Ellysia Jennings (185) would go 2-0 on the night with Norris picking up wins by a fall over Mylla Holland (Rockvale) and Alora Harden (Shelbyville) and Jennings beating Madalynn Sepulveda (Rockvale) by a fall and Kayleigh Maggert (Shelbyville) after a an injury timeout.
Aime Miller (138) would pick up a win by a fall over Nevaeh Pruett (Shelbyville) and Sophia Rodriguez (107) would lose to Calli Ziegler (Shelbyville) after an injury timeout in the other two girls matches of the night.
The team was scheduled to split up for two separate tournaments on Saturday, Jan. 11, with the boys travelling to Franklin for the Admiral Invitational and the girls taking part in the Mountain Top Invitational at St. Andrews-Sewanee, but those events may be impacted due to the winter weather.
The Mountain Top Invitational at Sewanee has been cancelled, but there is no official word on the Admiral Invitational at this time.
