On Wednesday night, the Coffee Middle Lady Raiders cruised to their 21st victory of the season with a 58-27 victory over Warren County in the 3A Area 6 Semifinals.
After closing out the regular season with a 52-9 win over Cannon County on Jan. 16, the Lady Raiders were looking to keep their record unblemished with an Area 6 Semifinal win over Warren, a team that Coffee County had beaten twice in the regular season.
The Lady Raiders would have the edge in the first half, outscoring Warren 11-5 in the first quarter and 15-11 in the second for a 26-16 lead at the half.
Avery Pruitt scored 12 points to pace the Lady Raiders in the first two quarters.
Coffee County’s defense would lock things down in the second half, as the Lady Raiders outscored the Lady Pioneers 32-11 over the final two quarters with the help of 12 second half points from Jenslee Nogodula for a 58-27 win.
“I felt like Warren County played a very good first half,” said Coach David Vinson. “In the second half, our defense started forcing turnovers and we scored several points off of that. We shot the ball a whole lot better in the second half than we did in the first half and we moved the ball a little quicker. Our girls took care of business tonight, and tomorrow night we’ll go play for an Area Championship.”
Box Score: Warren County Lady Pioneers (27) Kinsley Simpson 8, Maelee Turner 7, Adasah Haswell 7, Harper Patrick 3, Christy Farmer 2.
Coffee County Lady Raiders (58) Avery Pruitt 17, Jenslee Nogodula 14, Brylyn McAdams 6, Kinsley Pruitt 6, Harper Crosslin 5, Kealey Branch 5, Abbey Williams 4, Brooklyn Carlton 1.
The Lady Raiders improve to a 21-0 overall record on the season and will play Harris in the 3A Area 6 Championship Game at Coffee County Middle School on Thursday, Jan. 23 at approximately 7 p.m.
