Rangers wrangle up 12U Championship

The Manchester Youth Baseball League crowned their first champions of 2025, as the Baseline Baseball Rangers held off the Powers Storage Angels 11-5 for the 12U title on Friday night at Fred Deadman Park’s Aaron Miller Field.

Originally slated for a 6 p.m. start on Friday, June 27, the start time was moved back an hour due to rain.

Once underway, both teams looked to be pretty even in the first inning of play. The Rangers quickly ran to a 3-0 lead in the top half, with two runs being batted in on a single by Owen Holder and the third run being scored courtesy of a ground out by Easton Green. The Angels responded well in the bottom half of the first frame, scoring one run on an RBI double by Will Levengood, then reaching home twice more on a couple of wild pitches.

For the next two-and-a-half innings, the game swung completely in favor of the Rangers, who scored seven runs on five hits to grow a lead as big as 10-3.

The Angels, who were shut down offensively in the second and third innings, trimmed the lead to 10-5 with two runs in the bottom of the fourth and managed to get runners on every base, but all of them would be left stranded at the end of the inning.

Baseline scored one more run in the top of the fifth inning to extend their lead to 11-5, then quickly retired the bottom half of the inning to secure the City Tournament Championship.

Both teams were also the class of their league in the regular season with Baseline finishing first in the standings and Powers taking second.

The Bush Insurance Mariners and Marcrom’s Pharmacy Reds were both semifinalists.
