Westwood Middle School’s basketball teams were back in action Monday evening, traveling to Cascade for a district doubleheader.

The Lady Rockets fell 39-11 to tip things off, while the Rockets came out on top in the nightcap, winning 36-28.

Makenzie Meacham led the Westwood girls’ scoring effort, finishing with six points. Bella Hastings and Lyza Cashion both added two points each. Paisley Prater had a single free throw for one point.

On the boys’ side, Luke Christian and Hayes Shemwell paced the Rocket offense with 10 points each. Kayden Campbell followed with nine points. Abe Norman added four points. Brock Christian came away with two points. Alijah Cuff drained one free throw for one point.

Westwood remains on the road to face Lewisburg for another district meeting Thursday. Tipoff of the girls’ game is set for 6 p.m.
