CHS hoops splits Saturday action

The Coffee County Central High School basketball teams returned to the court Saturday to close out the first week of the season with a pair of games in Manchester.
Taking on Beech at Coffee County Middle School, the Red Raiders got things started but came out on the losing end of a 93-63 final. Tipping off an hour later at Joe Frank Patch Gymnasium, the Lady Raiders kept their undefeated start to the season in check with a 62-36 win over Moore County.
In the boys’ game, Audie Nicoll led Coffee County’s offensive effort with 20 points. MJ Rollman followed with 17 points. Luke Campbell drained three tres for nine points. Brody Sizemore added two 3-pointers of his own for six points. Jerrad Morgan came away with five points. Gabe Hambly, Jude Golembiewski and Braden Sargent all had two points each.
In the girls’ game, Kaysen Morgan led the way with 15 points. Natalie Barnes followed with 13 points. Lilly Matherne added 10 points. Audri Patton was credited with eight points, finishing just ahead of Adalyn Clark with seven points. Jaydee Nogodula sank three shots from the free throw line for three points. Andon Selvog, Jenslee Nogodula and Morgen Spears all had two points each.
Coffee County (3-0 girls, 1-2 boys) travels to Tullahoma Monday for a doubleheader against its cross-county rival. This will be both teams’ first away game of the season.
The girls’ game is set to tip off at 6 p.m.
