Westwood basketball splits with Community

Westwood Middle School’s basketball teams were back in action Friday night, traveling to Community for a district matchup.
The two teams split the road trip, with the Rockets coming out on top 46-43 and the Lady Rockets falling 38-25.
Luke Christian led the way for the Westwood boys with 14 points. Hayes Shemwell followed with 12 points. Sterling Hackett and Brock Christian both drained a pair of tres for six points each. Kayden Campbell and Abe Norman each added three points. Alijah Cuff had a single basket for two points.
In the girls’ game, Adley Selvog led the Lady Rockets’ offensive effort with 10 points. Bella Hastings followed with nine points. Paisley Prater nailed a single 3-pointer for three points, finishing just ahead of Camryn Lowe with one bucket for two points. Norah Grant had one free throw for one point.
Westwood returns home for a district doubleheader against Lewisburg on Dec. 3. The girls’ game is set to start at 6 p.m.
