Additional $20K reward offered as FBI seeks clues in unsolved murder of Ole Miss football player
SHELBY COUNTY, Tenn. – The FBI said Wednesday that the agency is offering a $20,000 reward for information leading to the arrests of people involved in the shooting death of an Ole Miss football player.
The FBI said Corey Adams was “a rising football star” for the Rebels when he was shot and killed July 19 after he had attended a pool party on Fern Glade Cove in Cordova. The freshman defensive lineman was among “several” other football players who were shot that night, the agency said.
The FBI said a black Nissan sedan drove by the party and someone from inside the vehicle opened fire, leading to four other people being shot and rushed to the hospital, the sheriff’s office said at the time.
Adams died at the scene in Cordova, the sheriff’s office said.
Anyone with information about the shooting is asked to call the FBI at 1-800-225-5324 or submit a tip at tips.fbi.gov. Callers can also reach out to CrimeStoppers of Memphis and Shelby County, Inc. at 901-528-CASH.
In a statement, Shelby County Sheriff’s Deputy Chief Anthony Buckner said the total reward money in Adams’ case is now up to $41,000. The sheriff’s office had previously put up a $21,000 reward for information in the murder case.
