Man indicted in South Memphis killing held on $500,000 bail, records show

MEMPHIS, Tenn. – A $500,000 bail has been set for a man accused in a deadly South Memphis shooting last year, records show.

Kewuan Jones was indicted last month for first-degree murder, records show.

Investigators allege that the 20-year-old shot and killed James Walker on the morning of June 15 on Gaiters Park Lane near East E.H. Crump Boulevard and South Third Street.

A motive behind the shooting has not been revealed.

Records show that Jones was booked into the Shelby County jail Wednesday and being held on a half-million dollar bail.
