Man charged after deadly shooting near Orange Mound, MPD says
MEMPHIS, Tenn. – A man was charged with second-degree murder after a deadly shooting near Orange Mound Friday, the Memphis Police Department said.
Just before 9:00 Friday evening, MPD said, officers were sent to the intersection of Park Ave. and Brower St. near Orange Mound for a shooting call. Once there, MPD said, the officers found a man with severe injuries; he was taken to the hospital, where he later died.
FOX13 crews on the scene saw members of the National Guard at the scene, blocking off the street while police conducted their investigation.
Memphis Police detained two people. MPD later confirmed 26-year-old Tyrese Jones was charged with second-degree murder and possession of a firearm during the commission of a dangerous felony.
