MEMPHIS, Tenn. – A man is fighting for his life after he was hit by a car early Tuesday morning in the Hollywood neighborhood, police said.

According to the Memphis Police Department (MPD), officers responded around 5 a.m. to a “pedestrian struck” crash near Chelsea Avenue and North Hollywood Street. They arrived to find a man been struck by a vehicle, which left the scene, police said.

The man was rushed to a hospital in critical condition, police said.

MPD said investigators believe the driver who struck the pedestrian left in a gold SUV or minivan. Anyone with information about their whereabouts is asked to call CrimeStoppers at 901-528-CASH.
