Suspects crash stolen jeep into tree after police pursuit in southeast Memphis, MPD says
MEMPHIS, Tenn. – Suspects crashed a stolen jeep into a tree after a police pursuit in southeast Memphis on Thursday afternoon, the Memphis Police Department (MPD) said.
Officers responded to a robbery where a green Jeep was stolen in the 400 block of Boston Street around 11:58 a.m. Police reported that they found the Jeep in the area of McLemore and Mississippi around 1:20 p.m.
According to MPD, an officer tried to stop the Jeep, but the driver refused to stop; officers began pursuing the Jeep in the area of Dunn and Hayes. The jeep then crashed into a tree.
The woman and man inside the Jeep were detained, police said. During the pursuit the suspects also hit another car on I-240 and South Parkway.
Police reported that there were no injuries. The man also had active felony warrants.
