Man shot to death near South Memphis, suspect on the run, MPD says

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Gunfire erupted early Tuesday morning in a neighborhood near South Memphis, killing a man, police said.

According to the Memphis Police Department (MPD), officers were called just before 1:45 a.m. to a shooting on St. Paul Avenue — just off Boyd Street — in the New Pathways neighborhood.

There, they found a man had been shot to death, police said.

MPD said investigators believe a suspect left the scene in a gray car but did not have further details.

FOX13 arrived shortly after the shooting call came in and found an active scene with officers, MPD vehicles and crime scene tape surrounding the area. Around 70 evidence markers were seen at the crime scene.

FOX13 asked a neighbor how many shots they heard they replied, “I would say 75 or more.”

Anyone with information about the shooting is asked to call CrimeStoppers at 901-528-CASH.
