PREP ROUNDUP: CHS baseball takes down Battle Creek

Coffee County baseball’s three-game skid ended with a dominant home win Wednesday evening.
Hosting Battle Creek, the Red Raiders took control early on the way to a 7-2 victory.
Coffee County finished the game with five hits, led by Grayson Sadler with two. Davis McKenzie, Landan Abellana and Boone Floyd each had one hit.
The Red Raiders posted six RBI, with two each for Floyd and Sadler. McKenzie and Abellana each had one RBI.
Isaiah Deadman got it started on the mound, coming off in the top of the fifth inning with seven strikeouts, three hits, one run and two walks. Kasen Shores followed, adding one strikeout, one hit, one run and three walks through the top of the seventh inning. Floyd took his place to close it out, delivering the final strikeout to bring the game to an end.
Coffee County (13-9) returns to action with a road game against Cascade Friday. First pitch is scheduled for 6 p.m.
High School Tennis
CHS falls to Lawrence County
The Coffee County tennis team was back on the road for a match at Lawrence County Wednesday afternoon.
Both the Lady Raiders and Red Raiders came out on the losing end, with the girls falling 4-3 and the boys falling 4-0.
Girls’ singles wins included Isabelle Saner, who defeated Mykah Hughes 8-3. Illy Allen also took down Caroline Sanders 8-4. The girls’ doubles team of Saner and Kati McInturff came out on top in their match as well, winning 8-5 over the team of Ella Golden and Sydney Smith.
Coffee County remains on the road to face Warren County at 2:30 p.m. Thursday.
Middle School Baseball
Westwood 19, Lewisburg 2
The Rockets got back in the win column with a dominant five-inning road win over the Tigers Wednesday.
Westwood finished with 13 hits, led by CJ Chavis Jr. with four. Logan McKenzie followed with three hits. Casen Francisco and Max Stewart both added two hits each. Griffyn Woods and Jackson Vernon each had one hit.
The team also came away with 10 RBI, including three for Chavis Jr. McKenzie and Brock Christian both brought in two each. Francisco, Woods and Vernon each had one RBI.
Chavis Jr. was the Rockets’ starting pitcher, coming off in the bottom of the fourth inning with 10 strikeouts, one hit, one run and five walks. Stewart followed to close it out, adding two strikeouts, two hits and one run through the game’s remainder.
Westwood (10-8) returns home to host Cascade at 5 p.m. Friday.
Stewarts Creek 9, Coffee County 4
The Red Raiders took control in the top of the first inning but fell behind as the game continued in a road loss Wednesday.
Mason Floyd connected on three of the team’s six hits, with one each for Braxton Swack, Tyler Campbell and Tyce DePalma. Swack’s hit came as a three-run home run in the top of the first inning.
Swack’s home run gave him three of the Red Raiders’ four RBI, with Aiden McNeese adding the fourth.
Liam Niece pitched the first four innings, coming off with two strikeouts, five hits, five runs and one walk. Kasen Shelton took over from there, adding four hits, four runs and three walks over the remainder of the game.
Coffee County (6-4) travels to Siegel for another road matchup Friday. First pitch is set for 4:30 p.m.
