Call from jailhouse boyfriend upsets driver of car

A man with a definite size advantage was arrested after he allegedly drove off with a woman halfway out of his car April 1.
Monroe County Sheriff’s Deputy Oliver Mey said it was just before 9:30 p.m. when he went to the Dollar General on Glenlock Road to check on an open 911 call and met a woman who had injuries to her left hand, left thigh/buttock area, right knee and both elbows.
The woman said she’d suffered the injuries when a man she identified as Chris White drove off with her only halfway out of his car.
She said she and White were riding in the car when her boyfriend called her from jail. She said this made White angry and he told her to get out of his car.
She said she did and was trying to get her stuff out of the car when he started to drive away. She said she tried to hang on, but soon let go out of fear White would keep driving, causing her more serious injuries.
Mey asked her if she thought White had did this intentionally and she said she believed so and was trying to hurt her. She said White, listed as 6’8 and 245 pounds, had assaulted her in the past, but didn’t put his hands on her this time.
Mey asked store employees if there were any cameras outside the store, but they said the only cameras were inside.
White, 40, was picked up April 6 and charged with aggravated assault.
