Emma Haley signs with Bryan College for volleyball

Emma Haley’s senior volleyball season may have come to an end this past fall, but her time with the sport is far from over.

Haley signed her national letter of intent to continue her academic and athletic careers at Bryan College in Dayton Wednesday afternoon, officially continuing her volleyball career at the next level. The signing was held in the Coffee County Central High School library with family, friends, teammates and coaches in attendance.

“It feels great. I’m really excited to continue to play and just have fun really,” Haley said. “That’s all I’m looking to do and meet new people, make friends and all that.”

The Lady Lions are members of the NAIA’s Appalachian Athletics Conference and are currently led by interim head coach Antoni Lauzon-Iglewski.

Haley said she was drawn to the program during the recruiting process due to the school itself, as well as the team’s welcoming nature.

“I just really liked the school and the atmosphere. I really liked the fact that the teachers care about you. They want you to learn something. I feel like you can really have a one-on-one conversation with a teacher and be able to learn,” Haley said. “And definitely the girls. They all seemed really nice and same with the coaches.”

In the classroom, Haley plans to go into pre-therapy.

She added that she was thankful for her Lady Raider coaches and family for helping her reach this point.

“Definitely coach (Jon) Spears and coach Kiya (Ferrell),” Haley said. “And my mom.”
