PREP ROUNDUP: CHS baseball falls to Lincoln County

One day after a home win over Lincoln County, Coffee County baseball ran into some trouble in Tuesday’s rematch.
Taking on the Falcons in Fayetteville this time around, the Red Raiders fell behind early on the way to a 6-3 loss.
Davis McKenzie and Preston Steele both had two hits each for a team total of four.
McKenzie, Steele and Elijah Vernon also had one RBI each for three on the evening.
Leiton Yancer pitched the first three innings, coming off with seven hits, five runs and one walk. Isaiah Deadman took his place, adding three strikeouts, four hits and one run through the game’s remainder.
The loss put Coffee County at 17-12 overall and 4-4 within the district.
Middle School Baseball
Westwood 11, Liberty 5
The Rockets took off early on the way to a win over the Patriots Tuesday.
Westwood finished with 11 hits, including two each for Luke Christian, CJ Chavis Jr., Brock Christian, Logan McKenzie and Will Levengood. This included a three-run home run for Chavis Jr. in the bottom of the first inning. Griffyn Woods, Max Stewart and Jackson Vernon each had one hit.
Chavis Jr. was credited with four of the team’s eight RBI. Stewart followed with two. Levengood and Luke Christian both had one RBI each.
Chavis Jr. got it started on the mound, coming off in the top of the fourth inning with six strikeouts, three hits, four runs and four walks. Aidyn Jones relieved him, adding two walks before getting pulled later in the top of the fourth. He was replaced by Luke Christian, who finished it off with four strikeouts, two hits and two walks.
Westwood (13-9) travels to Eagleville for a 5 p.m. game Wednesday.
Blackman 7, Coffee County 5
The Red Raiders kept it close, but were unable to return home from Murfreesboro with a win Tuesday.
The team finished with six hits, including two each for Mason Floyd and Aiden McNeese. Tripp Trussler and Bentley Ater each had one hit.
McNeese and Tyce DePalma had one RBI each for a team total of two.
Liam Niece was on the mound through the first four innings, finishing his day with six hits, six runs and three walks. McNeese took over from there, adding one strikeout, two hits, one run and three walks through the game’s remainder.
Coffee County (7-8) remains on the road to take on Lincoln County at 5 p.m. Wednesday.
Middle School Softball
Blackman 10, Coffee County 5
The Lady Raiders took an early lead but fell behind as the game continued on the way to a road loss Tuesday.
Coffee County connected on nine hits over the course of the game, with two each for Addie Haley and Britlyn Jones. Liberty Hill, Amaya Campbell, Izzy Haines, Kalli Byers and Kayda Ferrell each had one hit.
Jones brought in three of the team’s five RBI, with Hill and Campbell each adding one.
Campbell pitched a complete game, wrapping it up with six strikeouts, 12 hits, 10 runs and two walks.
Coffee County (12-6) will now turn its attention to the postseason, with the district tournament beginning next Monday.
