Mayor suggests shifting water billing to finance dept.
John Coffelt, Editor
During the budget discussion for the Manchester Water and Sewer Department at the April 10 Water Commission meeting, Mayor Joey Hobbs discussed a plan to move billing into the city Finance Department.
This move, if approved by the Board of Mayor and Aldermen, would allow the Director of Water and Sewer more time to focus on maintaining and repairing the distribution, collection and treatment systems. Water billing employees would be under the leadership of the Finance Director.
“It makes since that billing goes where finance goes,” Hobbs said. “Money is money. Bringing money in, taking it out and all those things makes more sense when it is all in the same building.”
