2 people shot in Whitehaven, third man strikes pedestrian while speeding off, MPD says

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Chaos erupted Thursday night in Whitehaven as two people were shot and a third man struck a pedestrian while driving away from the scene, police said.

According to the Memphis Police Department (MPD), it all started just after 7:45 p.m., when officers were called to Bonita Drive off East Raines Road for a shooting call. There, police said, they found two men had been injured by gunfire — one suffering critical injuries, while the other was expected to be OK.

MPD also said a man sped from the scene and struck a person with a car.

Police said a man was detained in connection to the shooting but did not further elaborate.
