Marie Feagins files new lawsuit against MSCS, alleges gender discrimination and retaliation
MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Former Memphis-Shelby County Schools (MSCS) Superintendent Marie Feagins has filed a new lawsuit alleging that she was the victim of gender discrimination and was unfairly retaliated against.
This is Feagins’ second lawsuit against the school district.
In the latest lawsuit filed Thursday in U.S. District Court in Western Tennessee, the ex-MSCS leader claimed that her male predecessors were treated more favorably after violating district policies.

The complaint alleges that former MSCS Superintendent Joris Ray negotiated a nearly half-million dollar buyout after he resigned amid a probe into inappropriate relationships with staffers.
Feagins’ new suit also singles out MSCS Board Member Towanna Murphy, claiming she published false statements accusing Feagins of vehicle theft, stalking, harassment and fraud.
