Man cuts own throat, says he’ll kill everyone

A Tellico man is facing a slew of charges after he allegedly threatened to kill everyone in his house March 5.

Tellico Police Officer Kaity Watson said she went to a residence on Scott Street just before 6 p.m. on a call of a man armed with a knife threatening to kill everyone there.

Watson said when she arrived, she got out of her patrol car and saw a man, identified as Jeremie Scott Brown, pacing back and forth in the yard, holding and swinging a large knife. She said he was yelling obscenities and acting in a threatening manner to several family members who were in the yard with him.

Watson said she told Brown to drop the knife and he did, but he continued to pace and moved away from her. She told him several times to put his hands on the hood of her patrol car, but he refused and, due to the threat he posed, she pulled her Taser and aimed it at him.

Watson said Monroe County Sheriff’s Deputy Brian Miller arrived then and Brown complied and Miller detained and searched him.

Watson said Brown had a fresh slice mark on his neck and, when asked about it, he said he’d scratched his neck with his fingernail. Miller then placed him in the back of his patrol car and Brown began beating his head on the back window until he was subdued.

Watson then talked to the family members who said Brown had been drinking alcohol and has known mental health issues. One member said while Brown was in the house, he put his hands around the neck of his three year old brother and began choking him until the family member fought him off and pushed him out of the house and locked the door.

The family member said Brown then got a BB gun resembling an AR style rifle and began shooting BB’s at the house while yelling he was going to kill everyone inside. He then kicked the door, attempting to get back in and the family member fought to keep him out, but he got far enough in where he threatened to kill himself and cut his neck in front of them.

Brown, 20, was charged with aggravated child abuse/neglect/endangerment, reckless endangerment, resisting arrest, underage consumption and aggravated assault.
