Family of Tipton County home invasion victim reacts after fifth arrest

TIPTON COUNTY, Tenn. – Five people are in jail after a deadly home invasion in Tipton County last month.

The fifth arrest, made over the weekend, happened hours before 22-year-old Corey Webb was laid to rest.

FOX13 spoke to Saranda Webb, Corey’s cousin, Tuesday.

“Corey Webb was the sweetest, most goofiest person you’d ever meet in your life,” she said via video call. “All he wanted to do was be the best dad he could be.”

She said she’ll always remember him as a positive person who was supposed to ring in the New Year with her and her family.

“We were on FaceTime, and he was going to come up to my house for New Year’s. He was going to bring his son,” she said.

That all changed December 29, 2025, when a group of people broke into Webb’s home on John Hill Road in Brighton.

The Tipton County Sheriff’s Office said Webb was shot but was able to shoot one of the attackers who eventually got away.

“I opened the text, and it said, ‘Corey’s shot, answer,'” Webb described. “All I can remember is her screaming, screaming, saying, ‘Corey’s shot, Corey’s shot, I don’t know what to do,’ and it happened right in front of his three-year-old son.”

Webb died at the hospital. By the next day, three people were arrested and in jail.

20-year-old Ashton Wolsefer, along with a 16- and 17-year-old, was taken into custody, facing charges including first-degree murder.

In the weeks since, investigators also arrested 19-year-old Haleah Brooks and, on Saturday, Ladarrell Miller.

Webb told FOX13 there’s slight relief knowing law enforcement is moving quickly and justice will be served.

“We wanted everybody that had something to do with it to be behind bars where they belong. Whether you were a driver, whether you were the person who told whoever about whatever, like if you were involved in any sort, you should be behind bars, because my cousin’s life is gone. My cousin’s son does not have a father,” she said.

Tipton County Sheriff Shannon Beasley said the two juveniles will have a hearing in February to determine if they’ll be charged as adults.

He told FOX13 this is still an active investigation, and they are not leaving any stone unturned.
