PROBATION VIOLATION: On Jan. 16, deputies arrived at South Highway 107 to serve an active warrant. A circuit court probation violation warrant was confirmed for Arthur Reese Thornton, 74. Contact was made with Thornton inside his residence. Thornton was taken into custody without incident and transported to the jail and served with the active warrant.

LEAVING FIRE NEAR WOODLAND UNATTENDED: On Jan. 16, a deputy was dispatched to Windswept Way regarding a large, unattended fire spreading in the leaves near a wooded area. After the fire department extinguished the flames, the officer made contact with Floyd Ramond Wasilewski, 75, on the property. Wasilewski admitted to setting the fire and leaving for town shortly after. Despite having a burn permit, Wasilewski was issued a criminal citation for leaving the fire unattended within 150 feet of a wooded area.

DOMESTIC ASSAULT / AGGRAVATED DOMESTIC ASSAULT: On Jan. 17, deputies responded to South Highway 32 regarding a physical altercation. Upon arrival, an officer spoke with the complainant who was found outside a camper with a swollen, possibly fractured hand. The complainant stated Lecia Carr, 44, struck him in the head and hand with an unknown object during an argument. While Carr initially claimed self-defense, she only had a small scratch on her arm. She eventually admitted to starting the altercation. Carr was arrested and transported to the Cocke County Jail, while the complainant was transported to Newport Medical Center for treatment.

PROBATION VIOLATION: On Jan. 18, a deputy made contact with John Wesley Green, 56, during a traffic stop. Upon checking Green for local warrants, the deputy was advised that Green was showing a warrant for probation violation. Once the warrant was confirmed, Green was placed under arrest and transported to the Cocke County Jail.

DRIVING WHILE LICENSE REVOKED / TRAFFIC CONTROL DEVICE / FINANCIAL RESPONSIBILITY: On Jan. 18, a deputy observed a vehicle fail to stop at a stop sign on Stonebrook Way and initiated a traffic stop. The driver was identified as Brittany Oglesby, 27, who was unable to provide proof of insurance. A records check revealed that Oglesby’s license was revoked. Oglesby was issued a citation for the listed offenses and she permitted a licensed driver to take control of the vehicle.

PROBATION VIOLATION / VIOLATION OF SEXUAL OFFENDER REGISTRY: On Jan. 19, deputies arrived at a Neddy Mountain residence for a warrant service. Three active warrants were confirmed for Ryan Samples, 34, including a circuit court probation violation and two counts of violating the sexual offender registry. Samples was taken into custody at the scene and transported to the jail.
