Parkway Village crash result of multi-agency chase, witness says
MEMPHIS, Tenn. – Police converged early Thursday morning at the scene of a crash in Parkway Village.
It happened near Winchester at South Perkins roads. According to the Memphis Police Department (MPD), officers responded around 3:00 a.m. to the intersection. FOX13 arrived to find two crashed cars on the scene.
A witness who asked not to be identified spoke with FOX13 and said the crash was the result of multiple law enforcement agencies chasing a suspect. “I saw some federal agents as well as Memphis Police pursuing someone down Lamar,” the witness said.
“I saw federal agents, I saw MPD, I saw THP,” they said. “Flashlight in one hand, gun in the other. They hit this pole and I also saw the pole explode.”
“They may have been going more than 100 miles per hour,” the witness said. “It was a bad ending. I mean debris and parts, parts of the vehicle was just everywhere.”
FOX13 also spotted officers from both MPD and the Tennessee Highway Patrol.
Streets in the area were blocked off as police continued to investigate. FOX13 has reached out to MPD for further details, including what led to the crash and if anyone was hurt, but did not immediately hear back.
