MFD holds push-in ceremony

Manchester Fire and Rescue personnel push their new fire engine into Station One on Friday, Jan. 16 as part of time-honored ceremony among firefighters that dates back to horse-drawn equipment that required manually pulling carriages into the stations. Friday’s ceremony included members of the Board of Mayor and Aldermen, Manchester Police and additional city departments. Mayor Joey Hobbs said during his address that this was the first new fire truck the city has purchased in decades. Vice Mayor Mark Messick added after the ceremony that the city has expanded its departmental fleet without a property tax increase.
