CHS swept by Page

Coffee County’s basketball teams were back in action Thursday night, welcoming Page for a doubleheader at Joe Frank Patch Gymnasium.

While the last two home matchups against Franklin County and Warren County resulted in a split, neither the Lady Raiders nor Red Raiders came out with a win this time around. The evening started with Coffee County falling 72-53 in the girls’ game before finishing the boys’ game down 69-39.

Coffee County (17-4 girls, 10-10 boys) resumes Class 4A District 6 play on the road at Cookeville Tuesday. Tipoff of the girls’ game is set for 6 p.m.

Lady Raiders fall behind

A close start for Coffee County in the girls’ matchup saw the Lady Raiders take an early 10-5 lead on Page in the game’s opening minutes. Page began to narrow the gap from there, ultimately taking the lead and finishing the first quarter up 17-14. Coffee County continued to trail Page in the second quarter, but kept the Lady Patriots within reach and went into halftime down 28-20.

Page began to separate further in the second half, finishing the third quarter up 54-40 before closing out the game up by 19.

Audri Patton led the Lady Raider offense with 12 points. Jaydee Nogodula followed with 11 points, finishing just ahead of Jenslee Nogodula with 10 points. Kaysen Morgan brought in seven points. Brylyn McAdams added five points. Up next were Lilly Matherne and Morgen Spears with three points each. Adalyn Clark had a pair of free throws for two points.

Red Raiders drop second straight

Coffee County once again found itself in a tight game to begin the nightcap, finishing the first quarter down 12-9. Page began to build up some space as the first half continued and went into halftime leading the Red Raiders 32-18.

This trend continued in the second half, as the Patriots pushed ahead to a 53-25 lead by the end of the third quarter before finishing the game ahead by 30.

Kaysen Lowery led Coffee County’s offensive effort with 11 points. Jerrad Morgan followed with seven points, finishing just ahead of Zeke Jones with six points. Brody Sizemore and Audie Nicoll both came away with four points each. Gabe Hambly, MJ Rollman and Jude Golembiewski each added two points. Luke Campbell had a single free throw for one point.
