Three people injured after reported shooting in High Point Terrace, police say
MEMPHIS, Tenn. – Memphis Police continue to investigate a triple shooting in the High Point Terrace neighborhood. Police responded to a shooting around 10:30 Friday night near High Point Terrace Rd. Police said when officers arrived, they didn’t find any victims. A short time later, two women and a man arrived to area hospitals.
One woman is in critical condition, the other two victims are expected to be okay.
FOX13 spoke to neighbors who were shocked to hear about the shooting.
“That’s scary. It’s disappointing and not the standard that I hold this neighborhood too,” one neighbor who didn’t want to be identified told FOX13.
Jack Gould recently moved to the High Point Terrace neighborhood. He told FOX13 he heard the gunshots, but thought they were fireworks.
“I thought it was fireworks. Took my dog out for a walk, heard the sirens and the police cars and realized I guessed wrong on that,” said Gould.
Gould moved to the neighborhood in two months. Several neighbors told FOX13 High Point Terrace is generally safe.
“It’s been delightful. We love most people, the neighborhood, everybody is out and about, and everybody gets along here,” said one neighbor.
“It’s just sad because we love this neighborhood. It’s full of hardworking people,” said Gould. “I just pray for the families of the people involved and I hope it works out well.”
Police are still investigating what led to the shooting. Multiple neighbors told FOX13 the home where the shooting happened is a short-term rental. If you have any information, you are asked to call CrimeStoppers at 901-528-CASH.
