CHS boys’ wrestling sweeps, CHS girls fall just short at Shelbyville

Coffee County wrestling was back on the road Tuesday night, traveling to Shelbyville for tri-meet action against Forrest and the host Golden Eagles.
The Red Raiders came out on top in both matchups, winning 49-25 over Shelbyville and following this up with a 43-28 victory over Forrest.
The Lady Raiders went toe-to-toe with Shelbyville in their dual, but came out on the losing end of a 36-35 decision, losing the 35-35 tie-breaker by number of forfeits.
In the boys’ competition against Shelbyville, Marcus Uselton got it started in the 120-pound weight class with a 20-11 major decision win over Nathan Yeomans. Dyson Leverette followed this up with a win by fall at the 1:09 mark over Richard Owens in the 126-pound weight division. Layne Hines picked up a win by forfeit in the 150-pound class. Competing in the 157-pound division, William Barlow took down Edgar Luciana, picking up a 16-1 technical fall victory.
Eli McLean went on to take down Austin Gunn in the 165-pound weight class, winning by fall with 3:01 on the clock. Up next was Kameron Stafford-Turner in the 175-pound bout, who won by fall over Lennon Rupprecht via a fall with 1:30 on the board. Joshua Mainville added a win in the 190-pound weight division, winning by fall over Ellington Scott at the 5:54 mark. Tanner Vernon added a 10-2 major decision victory over Jackson Themm in the 285-pound class. Giddean Mascari closed it out with a forfeit win in the 113-pound division.
Against Forrest, Caleb Studd picked up a forfeit win in the 113-pound weight class. Leverette went on to add an 8-0 major decision victory over Hunter Bell in the 120-pound weight division. Uselton followed in the 126-pound class, taking down Reed Puckett in a 9-2 major decision win. Competing in the 132-pound division, Jesse Lester came out on top over Copper Sims, winning by fall at the 1:25 mark.
Zachery Garcia picked up another Coffee County win in the 138-pound weight class, defeating Levi Hopper in a win by fall with 1:07 on the clock. Up next was Luke Warrick, who added a win by fall in the 144-pound weight division via a fall with 2:53 on the board. Adryne Whary brought in a forfeit win in the 165-pound class. Caden Harris wrapped it up with an injury win over Easton Mosher in the 285-pound division.
On the girls’ side against Shelbyville, the Lady Raiders’ wins included a win by forfeit for Jasmine Norris in the 126-pound division. Gabrielle Silva followed this up in the 132-pound weight class with a win by fall victory over Lexi Neese, with the fall coming at the 30-second mark. Jianna Bare added a 16-0 technical fall win over Kena Dotson in the 145-pound bout. Ellysia Jennings picked up another win by fall for Coffee County in the 165-pound weight division, forcing the fall with 2:17 left on the clock.
Raianna Gault came out on top over Josefin Martinez in the 185-pound weight class, winning by fall with 3:58 left on the clock. Keyauna Hill won by forfeit in the 235-pound weight division.
Coffee County will return to action at the Bradley Invitational, which will be held this Friday and Saturday.
