New Tennessee laws starting January 1, 2026

Starting January 1st, some new laws will go into effect that could impact some people across the state.
One of the most talked about is the Savanna’s Law, this creates a statewide registry for repeat domestic violence offenders. It will include name, date of birth, photo, and conviction date. This law was created to improve tracking and help protect victims.
Another law focuses on human trafficking prevention. The Ink of Hope Act will require tattoo artist to receive human trafficking intervention training to help them recognize warning signs.
There are also some new rules of the road. The Tennessee driver’s license exam will have to include information about bicycle hand signals used for turning, slowing, and stopping.
Lastly, licensed chiropractors will be able to expand their services to animals. Chiropractors must take six hours of animal chiropractic education every year. they will have to receive a certification from the American Veterinary Chiropractic Association.
