Swan to run for County Mayor
Former alderman Cheryl Swan has announced her intent to run for Coffee County Mayor. Her announcement follows as submitted.
Dear Coffee County Residents,
Coffee County deserves steady, principled leadership that puts people first. My name is Cheryl Swan; I am honored to officially announce my candidacy for Coffee County Mayor.
A mayor’s role is to provide leadership and direction, to be a good steward of our financial resources, and work transparently with our legislative body. I am prepared to embrace this role with the experience, dedication, and passion that it demands.
My career has been built on listening, problem solving, and making sound financial decisions. I have experience in banking, operating a small business where I oversaw accounting and operations, and most recently a legal assistant. Through each of these roles, I have learned what it takes to make the tough decision while balancing growth with stability.
My Commitment to public service led me to serve on the Manchester Board of Mayor and Alderman, where I was active on the Planning, Recreation and Finance committees. As Finance Chairperson, I helped strengthen Manchester’s future by making positive investments, more than doubling the city’s cash reserves and protecting employees’ benefits. I also served on the Arnold Community Council, supporting our Air Force Base, employees and contractors. For me, public service has never been about what is easy – it has always been about doing what it right.
Family is at the heart of everything I do. I have been married to Larry Swan for more than 20 years, and together we have raised two wonderful, successful children. My family and extended family have deep roots as public servants, and business owners. Having lived in Manchester and worked primarily in Tullahoma, I know firsthand the challenges that our communities have faced-and the opportunities that lie ahead.
As your mayor, I will work to unite our county. Coffee County is blessed with two vibrant cities and strong rural communities. Now is the time to bridge divides, work together and create a future where every part of our County thrives-together.
With your support, I will lead with integrity, serve with transparency, and work tirelessly to build a stronger Coffee County. I humbly ask for your support, your trust, your vote, and your prayers as I seek to serve you as your next county mayor.
