The winter sports season is just around the corner for the area’s middle school programs.
Starting next week, both Coffee County Middle School and Westwood Middle School will begin their respective 2025-26 basketball seasons for their boys’ and girls’ teams.
All four programs will be coming into this season off of conference tournament wins the year prior. In their respective Duck River Valley Conference tournament championship games last Dec. 12, the Lady Rockets defeated Community 39-26 before the Rockets followed up with a 34-24 victory over Eagleville. Coffee Middle followed this up a week later at the Central Tennessee Conference tournament championship games on Dec. 19 with a 41-5 routing of South Franklin in the girls’ final, as well as a 27-23 win over Harris in the boys’ final.
Westwood will get its season started on Tuesday at home against Liberty, with varsity tipoff set for 6 p.m. Coffee Middle begins its season on Thursday with a home matchup against South Middle. Varsity tipoff is set for 6 p.m. for these games as well.
The middle school basketball season will run through Feb. 13-14, 2026, concluding with the TMSAA State Tournament in Murfreesboro.
