TURNEY
Richard Reeves Turney, Jr., lovingly known as Ricky, passed away on Oct. 30, 2025, in Manchester, at the age of 68. Born on Nov. 11, 1956, in Nashville, Ricky was a quiet, thoughtful soul who touched the lives of those around him in his own unique and meaningful way. A graduate of Manchester Central High School in 1975, Ricky went on to earn his degree from Motlow State in 1978 and MTSU in 1981. He spent much of his career as a dedicated carrier for the Manchester Times, where he became a familiar and reliable presence in the community. Ricky was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Manchester for over 60 years Ricky was preceded in death by his parents, Richard Reeves Turney, Sr. and Donna Gore Turney; his infant sister, Terry Diane Turney; and his uncle, Jim Gore. He is survived by his brother, Steve Turney and wife Angie of Murfreesboro; his niece, Ashton Underwood of Murfreesboro, TN; his nephew, Ian Turney of Murfreesboro; his aunt, Margie Gore of Manchester, TN; and cousins Jimmy Gore, Warren Gore, and Laura Gore Jent. Though a very private person, Ricky possessed a deep well of knowledge. He found great joy in trivia—especially competing in Trivial Pursuit games at local restaurants alongside his cousin and teammate, Warren Gore, and their close circle of friends. A private burial took place at Woodlawn Cemetery in Nashville, Tennessee, at 11 a.m. on
Oct. 7, 2025. Ricky will be deeply missed by those who knew and loved him.
