PREP ROUNDUP: CHS volleyball, girls’ soccer fall in Tuesday matchups

Coffee County volleyball resumed district play with a trip to Columbia Central Tuesday evening.
Unlike the last time these two teams met in Manchester on Aug. 28, the Lady Raiders fell 3-0 this time around, losing by set scores of 25-21, 25-13 and 25-17.
Danni Hillis led the team in kills with five. Morgen Spears followed with four, just ahead of Hayleigh Harris with three. Cailey Sturgill added two kills. Alyssa Goon had one.
Hillis also led the way in aces with four. Goon was credited with two. Andon Selvog had one ace.
Carrington Saner was credited with three blocks to lead the category. Sturgill added one.
Selvog took the top spot in assists with seven. Up next was Taylor Brinkley with six. Spears and Saner both had one assist each.
Selvog also led the team in digs, recording five. Brinkley followed with four. Hillis added three digs. Goon, Saner and Jenslee Nogodula all finished with two each. Harris had one dig.
Coffee County (12-6) remains on the road for a match against Franklin County at 6 p.m. Thursday.
CHS girls’ soccer falls to Shelbyville
The Lady Raiders’ four-game winning streak was snapped Tuesday night. Taking on Shelbyville in a road contest, Coffee County fell 5-0 to its district foe.
Scoreless for the first 20 minutes, Shelbyville was able to get two shots into the Lady Raider net before halftime to take a 2-0 lead into the break, before adding three more in the second half.
Lilly Matherne had three shots on goal. Bailey Barsenas followed with two.
Coffee County returns home to host DeKalb County at 6:30 p.m. Thursday.
