Jewel Irene Kilby, age 94, of Manchester, passed from this life Friday, Aug. 1, 2025 in Nashville. Mrs. Kilby was born on Feb. 17, 1931, to her late parents Grady Brixey Elliott and Kate Vivian Strawn Elliott. She worked as a proud educator for 35 years and enjoyed every minute of it. Mrs. Kilby was a faithful member of Mercy Baptist Church in Manchester and enjoyed reading her Bible every day. She also loved sewing and always saw the best in people, giving them spontaneous compliments or simply encouraging everyone and making them feel special. She was a lifelong caretaker to her husband, Fred, who she cared for tirelessly. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Fred Duane Kilby; daughters, Deborah Kay Kilby and Kathy Lynn Kilby; brothers, Verle Elliott, JW Elliott, Raymond Elliott, Earl Elliott, Lloyd Elliott, Ernest Elliott and Roy Elliott; sisters, Vicie Weaver and Willa Dene Elliott. Mrs. Kilby is survived by sons, Duane (Joan) Kilby and David Kilby; grandchildren, Kaitlin (Alex) Logan, Andrew Kilby, Madison Kilby, Mason Kilby, and Misti Kilby; great grandchildren, Judah Logan and Ella Logan. Visitation will be held Saturday, Aug. 9, 2025, from noon until 2 p.m. with funeral services beginning at 2 p.m. in the chapel of Central Funeral Home with Jeff Bailey officiating. Burial will follow at Hillsboro Methodist Cemetery.
