High School Golf: Raiders best Rebels and Falcons in home opener

Coffee County Central played host to their first home golf meet of the season at WillowBrook Golf Club on Monday afternoon, picking up a pair of team wins over visitors Franklin County and Lincoln County.

In the boys competition, Jack Stowe led the way for Coffee County, shooting a 71 in the 18-hole match to lead all individuals.

Recent Faulkner University signee Noah Costello put up a 75, Landon Collins carded a 77 and Levi Rossman rounded out the Red Raiders’ team score of 303 with an individual effort of 80.

Keller Hatfield scored a 79, Rylan Melson put up an 83 and Jaxon Phillips and Carter Bell each finished with an 85 to cap off individual scoring for the Red Raiders.

Franklin County finished 53 strokes behind Coffee County, with their best individual score being an 84 by Easton Walker. Garrett Patterson scored an 86, Conner Worley carded a 90 and Channing Amacher tallied a 95 for a Rebel team score of 356.

Lincoln County finished third out of the trio of teams with a score of 415 and their best individual being Grayson Gentry, who finished with a 93.

On the girls’ side, things were quite a bit closer. Karaline Matthews and Karsyn Riddle put up scores of 58 and 59 respectively in the nine-hole match to give the Lady Raiders a team score of 117.

Ella Arnold was third best of the Lady Raiders with a 60, MacKenzie Ragland finished with a 62 and Madison Waller put up a 66 to cap off individual scoring for Coffee County.

Lincoln County was just six strokes back with a team score of 123, put together with a 60 by Abbigail Luttrell and a 63 by Ellie Davis.

Coffee County is set to face Lincoln County and Franklin County again on Thursday, Aug. 7 at 3:30 p.m., but that meeting will occur at Fayetteville’s Pebble Creek Golf Club.
