Martin Oliver Keenan, Sr., age 86, of Beechgrove, passed this life Sunday, Oct. 13, 2024 surrounded by his family.  He was born Feb. 22, 1938, in Lowville, NY to the late Leo E. Keenan, Sr. and Helen Martin Keenan.  In addition to his parents, Martin is also preceded in death by his wife of 58 years, Janet Tice Keenan; and sister-in-law, Dona Keenan. Martin attended the University of Cincinnati where he earned his bachelor’s degree in civil engineering. While still in college, he worked on St. Lawrence Seaway during the co-op program from 1957 until 1960.  The early 1960’s was a busy time for Martin; he married Janet in 1960 and entered the U.S Army Corps. of Engineers. While still in the military both of his sons were born, Martin in 1961 and Erin in 1962.  In the fall of 1962, he honorably discharged from the Army as a 1st Lieutenant and joined the private sector. Martin began as a Project Engineer for General Electric Company and quickly moved into Management.  He then became Senior Project Manager for Hardaway Construction Company and then Assistant Manager of Construction for Nissan Motor Manufacturing Corp. Martin ended his 38-year career as Section Manager of Facilities Design and Construction at Nissan.  In his personal time, he enjoyed quail and deer hunting, sailing, bicycling, attending the Manchester Recreation Center, and growing vegetables to share with his friends. Martin is survived by his son, Martin Keenan, Jr. (Lauretta); son, Erin T. Keenan, Sr. (Tracey); grandchildren, Marlee Poole, Erin Keenan, Jr., and Valerie Holloway; great grandchildren, Blakely Holloway, Shelby Holloway, and Foster Holloway; and brother, Leo E. Keenan, Jr. A memorial service was be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, Oct. 25 at Coffee County Funeral Chapel with Father Stephen Klasek officiating.  The family received friends one hour prior to service.  He was laid to rest at Rose Hill Memorial Gardens.
