On Tuesday night, the Lady Raider soccer team ended their losing streak in a 2-2 draw with Warren, the Lady Raider volleyball team suffered a tough loss at Columbia and the Red Raider golf team placed fourth at the Keith Maxwell Tournament.
Lady Raider Soccer
The Lady Raiders came close to their first win of the season, but they had to settle for a 2-2 draw at Warren County.
Coffee County ended their five game losing skid and three game scoreless drought with a goal each from Lynn Moore and Lilly Matherne with Matherne also picking up an assist. Matherne now leads the team with three goals on the season.
Matherene had three total shots on target, Bella Van Zandbergen had one shot and keeper Hailey Campbell made nine saves on the night.
The Lady Raiders are now 0-5-1 on the season and will be back home to face Shelbyville on Tuesday, Sept. 10 with JV action kicking off at 5 p.m.
Lady Raider Volleyball
The Lady Raiders had a tough district outing in Columbia, where the host Lady Lions swept the game 3-0.
Coffee County would drop the first set 25-12, then fall 25-13 in the second set.
The Lady Raiders fought hard in the third set to try and keep the match going, but the Lady Lions completed the sweep with a 25-23 win.
Rileigh Russell led the team with three aces and eight assists while Rylee Clark led in kills with seven.
The Lady Raiders are now 4-2 on the season and will play host to Shelbyville on Thursday, Sept. 5 at Joe Frank Patch Memorial Gymnasium.
Red Raider Golf
The Red Raiders placed fourth in the Keith Maxwell Tournament held at McMinnville Country Club.
Jack Stowe led the way for Coffee County, scoring a 77, which was good enough to tie for second place in individual scoring with Kason Watson of Cookeville.
Along with Stowe’s score, Noah Costello turned in an 81, Levi Rossman carded an 84 and Jaxon Phillips scored an 89 to help give Coffee County a team score of 331, which was good enough to place fourth among the 13 teams competing in the event. Carter Bell also scored an 89 for Coffee County in individual scoring.
Tullahoma placed first in the event with a team score of 314 with their best score coming from Alex Miller, who took top honors among individual golfers with a 74.
Cookeville placed second with a team score of 320 and Eagleville placed third with a score of 330.
In the girls event, Leah Kate Sullivan scored a 98 and Karsyn Riddle turned in a 118 for a team score of 216, placing Coffee County eighth among nine teams.
Dekalb County and Eagleville tied each other for the best team score at 170, but Dekalb’s Chloe Boyd had the best individual game with a score of 77.
Red Raider golf will be back in action at Marshall County along with Franklin County on Thursday, Sept. 5 at Saddle Creek Golf Club.
